This place rocks. Cheesey potatoes and brisket.
This BBQ blows anything within the district out of the water. I expect many long drives down 66 to assure that we have nothing but the best BBQ available. The Smokin Bowl is a clear recommendation!
My time here was fantastic, I stopped in for lunch. I just love places like this and I am a sucker for some que. It's a little transformed trailer tucked off on the side of the road, so if you expect nice seating, silverware, and ambience this is not the place. But if you want some good BBQ from friendly people this is worth it! I decided to get the brisket but was not sure on the side that I wanted. Kim let me try the cheesy potatoes and I was sold. The brisket was fantastic in my opinion. There was a great bark and smoke ring, and it was super juicy with a nice amount of fat to enhance the flavor. Just fantastic. The cheesy potatoes were simple and delicious, I'm not sure if I have had something like this at another restaurant. Best way I can describe it is a baked mac and cheese, except with potatoes, and it was surprisingly great. I hope to get back next week before heading home to try the Ribs or the Billy's bowl.
I've probably eaten at a good 35-40 BBQ places all over the country and I can safely say the brisket is up there in my top 5. The portions were very fair for the price, certainly cheaper than the places around me.
Moist, tender, melt in your mouth BBQ. Oh my goodness, worth the trip. The sides are as good as the barbecue.
Tip: Take 5 minutes to read the website and pay attention to the hours, it tells you everything you need to know. They aren't open very many days and close EARLY when the food is gone. If you have any questions, save yourself time and them a bad review and give them a call.
I want to give this place a much higher rating. The food is great. But this is the third time I've showed up an hour after their opening, and the place is locked up tight with no one around. This is a place I want to show off, bring friends, but if they won't be open when they say, then it's just a recipe for hungry, frustrated people.
