Excellent Care for Young Adults
The only Doctor I will go to. Have had all 3 kids of mine here and have not went anywhere else. Love Dr. Amster!!
We have been to a considerable number of pediatricians due to moving, and Dr. Amster is by far the best pediatrician we have come across. His bedside manner is wonderful! He takes his time with each child and is thorough. We have never had a significant wait time for our appointment in the year and a half we have been a part of his practice.
We love Dr. Amster. He's sooo laid back and really puts parents and kids at ease. Took over our care at 17 months, it's been a little over a year. Conservative care at its best.
Today we found that my two year old had shoved something up her nose. He opened his office on a Saturday afternoon just to care for her and was so gentle and patient. This man REALLY cares for his patients. I give him my highest endorsement both as a mommy of 2 littles and as a former pediatric speech language pathologist.
If you are somewhat holistic, this practice/doctor is not for you. My newborn had thrush to which I was treating naturally with probiotics. The doctor scowled at me when I told him what I was doing, and then proceeded to put his unwashed finger in my child's mouth. There is a sign on the cabinet stating something along the lines of "please ask us to wash our hands, we won't be offended", but how do you ask them AFTER they do something like that. Would I have known that he was going to do that, I definitely would have insisted. The doctor prescribed a mediation (nystatin) that made my infant violently vomit twice that evening (one of the side effects according to the drug information). I switched back to my natural remedy and the thrush is gone. After examining, the doctor then walked clearly away from the table, leaving my child unattended with the ability to roll off the table. I immediately stood up and went to my child's side (this is not my first child, so I've been around the block before)... There was a nurse practitioner in training in the room who didn't say a word. She was clearly shy, and made the experience more uncomfortable than it already was. I will not be back to this practice. If you're a new parent, do research and don't settle. There are better options. Science/synthetic medications aren't the only options.
